Gstaad Yacht Club Centenary Trophy
A gathering of exception for the century-old classic yachts
The date is set for Thursday, October 2nd in Saint-Tropez for the 14th edition of the Gstaad Yacht Club Centenary Trophy. This one-of-a-kind regatta is exclusively reserved for classic yachts that are at least 100 years old. As in previous years, the event will take place within the prestigious setting of Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, promising another colourful and memorable chapter in the history of this exceptional race.
On shore, the Gstaad Yacht Club will showcase Switzerland with the 3rd edition of the “Swiss Night” on Wednesday, October 1st 2025, held at the Place des Lices.
Since its launch in 2011, the Centenary Trophy has become a highlight on the classic yacht calendar. The only requirement to participate: the yacht must have passed the symbolic milestone of 100 years of age. Each year, the Centenary Trophy draws some of the most beautiful examples of global maritime heritage – historic vessels lovingly restored, still sailing with elegance and ambition.
A Guaranteed Spectacle
Thanks to a unique pursuit race format – where boats start according to their handicap rating, and the first across the finish line wins – the race delivers close duels right up to the final leg, offering guaranteed suspense for both sailors and
spectators alike.
This format is especially popular among owners, who return year after year with great enthusiasm to take part in the Centenary Trophy.

The “Swiss Night”!
Another highlight of the week is the Swiss Night, taking place on the iconic Place des Lices on Wednesday, October 1st 2025. It’s a chance for sailors to enjoy Alpine specialties and take part in the uniquely Swiss challenges.
On the agenda: a ski race and a cow-milking competition, where two representatives from each crew will need to show skill and sportsmanship.
The idea is simple: everyone should have fun. The Centenary Trophy also embodies the Gstaad Yacht Club lifestyle – blending tradition, competitive spirit, and a good dose of humour.

Gstaad Yacht Club
The Gstaad Yacht Club (GYC) was founded in 1998 by a group of passionate sailors with a mission: “To create a unique, global yacht club away from the sea – not just another local yacht club by the water.”
Based in the Swiss Alps, the GYC has 400 members from over 40 countries who enjoy gathering in this unique setting.
With 60 to 90 event days per annum the club supports sailing projects at all levels, from juniors to professionals, and has become a strong presence in the Swiss and international sailing scenes – particularly in Olympic sailing and classic yachts.
Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez
Founded in 1862, the SNST has been organizing regattas for over 160 years. Legendary figures like Guy de Maupassant (1887) and Paul Signac (1897, President from 1908 to 1911) were early pioneers of French yachting and members of the club.
Affiliated with FFVoile and a partner of the Yacht Club de France, the SNST continues to evolve while honoring tradition.
With a passionate team of 15 board members, 3 permanent staff, 500 members, and many volunteers, the club organizes major events such as Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, Festival ArMeN, Dames de Saint-Tropez, Les Voiles d’Automne, Paprec 600 Saint-Tropez, and co-hosts the Loro Piana Giraglia in Saint-Tropez.
It also welcomes high-profile events including various World and European Championships, the Sail GP French stop since 2021, the 52 Super Series, the Nations Trophy with Club Swan Racing, and in 2025, a Dragon class regatta for the Marblehead Trophy.

Un rendez-vous d’exception pour les yachts classiques centenaires
Le rendez-vous est donné, le jeudi 2 octobre à Saint-Tropez pour la 14ème édition du Gstaad Yacht Club Centenary Trophy. Le Centenary Trophy est une régate unique au monde, réservée aux yachts classiques centenaires. L’épreuve se tiendra comme chaque année dans le cadre prestigieux des Voiles de Saint-Tropez, et promet un nouveau chapitre haut en couleur dans l’histoire de cette course d’exception.
A terre, le Gstaad Yacht Club mettra la Suisse à l’honneur, place des Lices, le mercredi 1er octobre pour la 3ème « Swiss night ».
Depuis sa création en 2011, le Centenary Trophy est devenu un temps fort du calendrier des voiliers classiques. Une seule règle pour y participer : avoir franchi le cap symbolique des cent ans d’âge. Chaque année, le Centenary Trophy attire les plus beaux témoins du patrimoine maritime international, des unités historiques, restaurées avec passion qui continuent de naviguer avec grâce – et ambition.
Spectacle assuré
Grâce à un système unique de départ à handicap inversé (pursuit race) – les bateaux franchissent la ligne de départ en fonction de leur rating, le premier à franchir la ligne d’arrivée est le vainqueur – offrant ainsi des bagarres serrées et jusqu’au dernier bord, et un suspense garanti pour les spectateurs comme pour les marins.
Ce format est très apprécié de tous les propriétaires qui reviennent tous les ans avec grand plaisir pour participer au Centenary Trophy.

La « Swiss night »!
Temps fort de la semaine également pour le Gstaad Yacht Club : la « Swiss Night » sur la célèbre Place des Lices, le mercredi 1er octobre. L’occasion pour les marins de découvrir les spécialités alpines… et de participer à des challenges typiquement helvétiques. Au programme : une course de ski, mais aussi une compétition de traite de vaches dans laquelle deux représentants de chaque équipage devront faire preuve d’habileté… et de fair-play.
L’idée est simple : que tout le monde s’amuse. Le Centenary Trophy, c’est aussi l’art de vivre du Gstaad Yacht Club, entre tradition, esprit sportif et humour.

Gstaad Yacht Club
Le Gstaad Yacht Club a été fondé en 1998 par un groupe de marin passionné avec pour mission de « créer un yacht club unique et global loin de l’eau et non pas un autre yacht club local près de la mer ». La Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez
Fondée en 1862, la Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez organise des régates depuis plus de 160 ans. Certains de ses membres ont laissé une trace impérissable à l’image de Guy de Maupassant en 1887 et Paul Signac en 1897 (Président de la SNST de 1908 à 1911) qui font partie des pionniers de la plaisance française. Affiliée à la FFVoile et Club allié du Yacht Club de France, la SNST n’a cessé de s’agrandir avec comme leitmotiv de toujours être ouverte à la modernité et aux nouveautés tout en respectant la tradition. Fort d’une équipe de passionnés dont 15 membres du Conseil d’Administration, 3 permanents, 500 membres et de nombreux bénévoles, le Club organise de grandes épreuves dont les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, le Festival ArMeN, les Dames de Saint-Tropez, les Voiles d’automne ou la course au large en Mediterranée, la Paprec 600 Saint-Tropez et co-organise d’autres épreuves comme la Loro Piana Giraglia à Saint-Tropez. La SNST accueille notamment des événements exceptionnels comme différents championnats du monde ou d’Europe et depuis 2021 l’étape française de Sail GP, ainsi qu’une étape du 52 Super Series circuit des TP 52, The Nations Trophy avec le Club Swan Racing et une épreuve avec les Dragon pour le Trophée marblehead en 2025.
